A workshop for environmentalists
This page is created to plan workshop scheduled on 21/1/2024 Sunday at Pune for the citizens concerned with sustainable development--in particular, protection and preservation of urban trees. After the workshop, this page will be updated to present a report and the outcome of the workshop.
Scope
Workshop will address the issue of road widening projects of PMC/PMRDA entailing felling of trees.

Objective
Participants will brainstorm relevant laws and rules and come up with a standard operating procedure (SOP) titled: SOP for environmentally sustainable widening of road flanked by trees
Methodology
Essential features of the Tree Act, Tree Rules, relevant judgments and quality principles under Clause 0.2 of the ISO 9001:2015 standard will be explained to the participants.
Through a PowerPoint presentation, a process for environmentally sustainable widening of road flanked by trees will be adopted in accordance with Clause 0.3.1 of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Thereafter participants will develop and finalize the SOP through three brainstorming sessions separated by two breaks.

1335 (40 min): Briefing to participants on laws, rules and standard
1415 (60 min): Brainstorm session 1: Filling up Table of the process
1515 (30 min): Break, interaction
1545 (60 min): Brainstorm session 2: Drafting of SOP

1700 (75 min): Brainstorm session 3: Finalization of draft SOP
1815 (15 min): Conclusion
Follow-up action
The SOP shall be recommended to local urban authority through NGT/HC.
